The London Group Open 2019 will be staged in two parts during Nov/Dec 2019 at The Cello Factory, 33-34 Cornwall Road, London, SE1 8TJ. This will be The London Group’s 84th Open exhibition. Both parts of the exhibition will include works by London Group members and works by non-members selected from open submission. Selected exhibitors will show a maximum of one work. Approximately 120 works will be shown in total with a minimum of 60 works by non-members – at least half of the exhibitors will be non-members.
Works for the exhibition will be selected by a panel of artists from The London Group Selection Committee, comprising 17 current members.
A full colour catalogue showing all works will be produced and distributed free of charge (previous Open catalogues can be seen HERE).
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday 30 August 2019.

*The President’s Prize: Three-Person Exhibition at The Cello Factory
Three artists will be selected for an exhibition at The Cello Factory, selected by The President of The London Group. The prize will include a Private View provided by The London Group and assistance with the hanging of the exhibition at a date to be agreed. The artists will be jointly responsible for publicity, insurance of their work, and invigilation of the exhibition.
Submissions of work are invited from visual artists working in any medium including, painting, sculpture, drawing, print, photography, mixed media, installation, video, sound, digital and performance. Wall hung work should not exceed 150cm high x 150cm wide, including frame. Floor-standing or suspended three-dimensional work should have a footprint not exceeding 150cm x 150cm including plinths and supports. The gallery is a double height space with crossbeams at approximately 400cm high and a ceiling apex of approximately 590cm high.
All artists selected for exhibition, including those working outside the UK, must arrange for delivery and collection of their work to and from The Cello Factory at the specified days and times. Please ensure that you can comply with this requirement before entering, as The London Group cannot assist with alternative arrangements.
Artists must be 18 years of age or over.
Works made by more than one artist are eligible but one artist will need to act as lead artist.
The submitted works must have been made since 2017 by the submitting artist.
Submission is by online entry only. Up to three submissions can be made, although no more than one work per artist, if selected, will be exhibited.
A non-refundable fee must be paid with the submissions – this fee is payable irrespective of the work being selected – £20 for one submission, £35 for two submissions, £45 for three submissions. Payment must be made online via Stripe using a credit or debit card. Direct payment by credit/debit card, cheque or cash is not possible. No refunds will be made so please check eligibility before submission.
Once payment has been made applicants will receive an email from ArtOpps confirming their user name and giving a password. These details can then be used to login to the submission site.
For 2D and 3D work each submission should be accompanied by a digital image of the work in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format at with maximum file size of 1MB. Please note that should your work be successful this is the image that will be used in the catalogue. Film, video, digital, sound and performance work must be uploaded to a hosting site such as Vimeo or YouTube and an html link provided. Video works requiring multiple monitors, or the playing of more than one DVD, are not admissible. Note: the selectors will only watch the first two minutes of a submission during the initial selection.
The London Group reserves the right not to accept a submission and all decisions on this, and on the subsequent selection of works for exhibition, will be final and not subject to appeal.
